Namibia does not yet have MEPs or energy labels. Nevertheless, a 2007 Report entitled Development of a Regulatory Framework for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Pertaining to the Namibian Electricity Sector recommends that Namibia develop energy standards and labeling and that the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) be responsible for oversight of the program, and outsource its implementation. There is also currently a UNDP-funded project, Namibia Energy Efficiency Program in Buildings (NEEP), which aims to assist in the formulation of standards and labeling of building appliances (not residential appliances). This program started in 2010 and will finish in July of 2013.
