Papua New Guinea
Papua New Guinea does not yet have energy standards or labels. However, there is a project called PEEP 2 (Promoting Energy Efficiency in the Pacific, Phase 2) currently being undertaken. This project runs from 2012 to 2014, is funded by the Asian Development Bank and aims to promote and implement energy efficiency policies and programs in 5 countries, including Papua New Guinea. The focuses are on street lighting, lighting in residences, commercial and government sectors; and energy efficiency measures in hotels, commercial buildings and the public sector. Another related project was recently finished called Pacific Appliance Labelling and Standards (PALS) program, involving Papua New Guinea. This project was also aimed towards the development of energy efficiency in Pacific countries.
