CLASP Welcomes Back Amit Khare

CLASP is excited to announce that Amit Khare has returned to the organization as Program Manager, where he will develop and implement programs and projects across South and Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America. Amit previously served as CLASP’s Program Manager for the Super-efficient Equipment and Appliance Deployment (SEAD) Initiative in our India office. He has also worked at India’s Bureau of Energy Efficiency on a UNDP-CLASP funded program.
Amit is an emerging leader in energy efficiency standards and labels and related policies, with significant experience working with CLASP and ICF International in India. His expertise includes energy and greenhouse gas emissions impacts modeling and product labeling design for ACs, TVs, refrigerators, and set top boxes. Previously, Amit was Product Development Engineer at the Whirlpool Corporation's Asia Design Center in India, where he focused on the energy efficiency of refrigerators and air conditioning systems.
Amit left CLASP in 2013 to pursue a master’s degree in Environmental Systems at Humboldt State University in California, where he focused on energy technology and policy. Amit recently completed his thesis: “The Rising Sun: Analyzing the potential of energy efficient solar photovoltaic water pumping systems in India.” Originally from Uttar Pradesh, India, Amit recently moved to the DC area with his wife Alpana and his son Krishna, to join CLASP’s US office.
