Sumedha Awasthy has 6 years of experience in renewable energy, climate change, rural enterprise capacity building and energy efficiency sector.
Prior to joining CLASP, she was working at the Centre for Science and Environment where she designed the clean cooking program and was responsible for renewable energy projects.
At The International Institute for Energy Conservation, she was engaged in the State Action plan for Climate Change Revision and Development of Monitoring and Evaluation Framework in Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. She worked on OPM funded project ‘Community-Led Action Plan on Climate Change in Chhattisgarh. Also, she was a team member in the project “GHG accounting and Capacity Building for the Cities of Jaipur, Bhopal, Mysore, Vijayawada, and Guntur”. She conducted a city-level sectoral analysis of GHG emissions, detailed city-level sectorial data collation and analysis, and made presentations for the city-level training workshops on GHG accounting. She was part of the team for the OPM-funded project “Supporting Farmer Producer Companies for Value Chain Development in Maharashtra” in which she supported the Government of Maharashtra in designing an indicator-based, Comprehensive FPC Rating Tool and trained the government staff on the same. Further, she designed training modules for FPC’s on how to make bankable business models. She was also part of the world bank RISE team and conducted an evaluation for 43 countries.
She is part of the Clean Cooking Alliance mentorship program.
Outside of work, she volunteers for a not-for-profit working to create awareness about breast cancer. She enjoys traveling and baking.
Sumedha holds a master’s degree in Resource Management and Design Application from the University of Delhi, India, and has done a certificate course from Harvard Business School on Sustainable Business Practices.
