The 2020 Off-Grid Appliance Market Survey shares key insights on the perceived demand for, and impact of, off-grid appropriate appliances using data collected from 133 industry, policy, and development stakeholders. The survey results reflect the dynamic needs of off-grid consumers and aim to characterize the positive socioeconomic impact of a range of household appliances, productive use equipment, and healthcare technologies.

In November 2019, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), an energy service company set up under India’s Ministry of Power, published a series of inspection manuals to guide bulk procurements for five product categories: electric motors, LED street light fixtures, room air conditioners, smart meters, and submersible water pumps.

In 2019, CLASP worked with Environmental Design Solutions to conduct a first of its kind pan-India urban residential end-use survey and real-time appliance energy-use monitoring through Non-intrusive Load Monitoring (NILM). The study’s objective was to establish appliance ownership and usage patterns for urban households and develop a framework for data collection and analysis on energy end-use.
The Swedish Energy Agency and CLASP conducted a market and technology review to examine the availability of mercury-free lighting products to replace T5 and T8 linear fluorescent lamps and compact fluorescent lamps which are not integrally ballasted (CFLni).
