Since 1999, CLASP has worked in over 100 countries, collaborating with key stakeholders to design and implement high-impact policies and programs that catalyze markets for efficient on- and off-grid products that deliver a higher global standard of living for everyone. From international collaborations to local markets, we draw on best practices and leading technical and policy expertise to help decision makers identify and implement the most appropriate and cost-effective policies and market interventions. CLASP is based in Washington DC, and has offices and teams in India, Kenya, and Europe.
About our Policy & Analysis Services
Our team provides world-class technical and policy advisory services directly to governments to develop and implement the most ambitious and cost-effective policy solutions in countries and regions all over the world. We work hand-in-hand with policymakers, as well as industry and civil society to accelerate the development of energy-efficient product markets through minimum energy performance standards, informative product labeling, and identification and promotion of the most efficient appliances, both on and off the grid.
CLASP’s on-grid policy work currently focuses on several regions including: Europe, India, Southeast Asia and West, East and Southern Africa. In these regions, CLASP plays a central role in developing and promoting appliance energy efficiency policies that reduce environmental impacts, address skyrocketing energy demand and GHG emissions, and increase the market share of high-efficiency, low global warming potential space cooling and refrigeration appliances.
In the off- and weak-grid sector, CLASP advises governments on standards adoption and implementation for off-grid solar products. CLASP has extensive experience in developing test methods and quality standards for pico-solar products and solar home system kits. These tests methods and quality standards are designed for wide applicability and to define a baseline level of quality for consumer protection.
About our Policy Consultants
We hire consultants to extend and enhance our abilities and enable us to deliver on specific projects. Assignments vary, but generally require subject-matter expertise and experience interacting with government officials on public policy and program administration. Consultants will provide technical assistance and strategic guidance to decision makers, including government officials and development program implementers, on how to effectively prioritize resources and activities. Most assignments require travel to meet with government officials and other stakeholders and sometimes for other purposes. CLASP will contact qualified respondents directly with details about specific assignments as they arise. We look forward to expanding our community of consultants in Sub-Saharan Africa in the coming months!
